Types of Construction Material Used in Construction Project

by priyaon 7 July 2016in Construction Materials

Construction is process of erecting infrastructure. Construction is tailor made for clients to meet their needs, residential building, offices space, hotels, malls or stadium clients decide on what they want. Clients’ demand influence construction material to employ on the construction project. Different building materials have various uses depending on what type of construction you want to embark on.

It means that the choice of building materials depend on suitability to a particular project as well as local availability and of course, the money available for the project.

Different Types of Construction Material:

Depending on what you want, the construction materials below will meet your demand if you are interested in what material to use for your next construction project.

Adobe

Yellow silt or clay deposited by river and dry in the sun. Local builders use it to build houses, but it is prone to destruction by earthquakes.

Aggregates

Aggregates or gravel are important for different construction projects. Gravel is important as sub-base support under concrete slab, for drainage and in foundations. They over strength and can bear load or weight to very high level.

Cement

Cement binds concrete material together, cement are made from lime deposit and when mixed with concrete and cured, it gives extremely strong material that can without heavy weight and loads. Cements come in four different types.

Type 1

The normal cement that is commonly used in construction and most popular among cement family.

Type 2

Slow-reacting, and is moderate sulfate resistant

Type 3

Fast setting, with high early strength, when you need to get result in wet areas you can use this type of cement.

Type 4

Type 4 cement as low heat of hydration. Its ability can be suitable in technical projects that require detailed attention.

Concrete masonry units

You can make concrete masonry units by using Portland cement, mixed with sand and gravel. Depending on the ratio of sand, and gravel, the weight of concrete masonry units varies with aggregates that are in use.

Iron rods

Iron rods are important when what you want to construct needs to bear heavy weight and loads, like beams, pillars and other structures that can bear extreme loads. Iron rods come in different sizes, strength and recommendations. You need to get the type that suits your particular construction needs.

Construction materials are diverse, so it is important know what you to construct, before deciding on what construction material you want to go for.

How Soluble Salt Vitrified Tiles Made?

by priyaon 21 June 2016in Construction Materials

Soluble salt vitrified tiles are made using a technology for penetrating various colors into the tiles. Tiles that are yet unfired are giving liquid color screen- printing to produce design on tiles after which the tiles are fired to make the color permanent.

This technique is referred to as soluble salt technology due to the fact that soluble salt is used to give the tile a particular color and unique pattern.

Soluble salt vitrified tiles have high resistant to abrasion and stain so they don’t look their beauty easily. Vitrified floor tiles are in vogue in construction industry being used in homes, schools, hotels, museums, and other buildings.

Building materials suppliers do supply soluble salt vitrified tiles which are polished and screen printed.

Use of soluble salt vitrified tiles

Vitrified floor tiles are becoming more popular by the day, not only because they are colorful: the beautiful is something that will make the royals appreciate the glamour and elegance it brings to homes.

Cheap price

With all its beauty, soluble salt vitrified tiles are not expensive, unlike marble and granite tiles that come with exorbitant prices. Affordable to virtually every home builder is not surprise that its rise to prominence is ever on the rise.

Availability

It is readily available at every standard building materials store with various shapes sizes and colors to choose from. You can hardly see a good building material outlet that is not having soluble salt vitrified tiles for sale.

Easy to deploy

The beauty of it is; soluble salt vitrified tiles are easy to fix, though for better job quality, is better to seek the services of professionals who are experienced in laying of tiles.

Durable

Vitrified floor tile are frost and water resistant, which make them very durable with penetrative capability of water estimated to be less than 1%. Vitrified floor tiles are suitable for outdoor use as well as indoor.

Where to Buy Cost-Effective Quarry Stones?

by priyaon 13 June 2016in Construction Materials

Buying quarry stones may not be as easy as it seems, like other construction materials, is important to consider various factors, to choose the best and most cost effective quarry stones.

Like other building materials, specifics, dimensions, and nearness to the site of construction are primary issues to consider, analyzed, and evaluated before making the right decision. Quarry stone are in abundant supply, but one must know where to get the right choice to suit one construction needs.

Factors to consider when buying Quarry stones

You consider what you need with what is available in the market. Though there are building material suppliers who can get you anything pertaining to building, yet you must be able to make orders for what best suits your building project needs.

Manually cut quarry stones

These are mined after blasting the rock and then manually using chisel and sledge hammer to cut it to various sizes. They are rough stones with uneven surfaces and readily available on demand.

Some quarries specialized in producing manual cut stones which are good for foundation laying, load bearing walls and are beautiful too with many colors.

Your Engineer or building material supplier should be able to get you  good supply from a local mine .

Machine cut quarry stones

As the name suggests, they are cut to various shapes and sizes by machines, they are smooth with even surfaces. Machine cut quarry stones are sold per piece and the price varies by sizes and quality.

Must readily available quarry stone are the machine cut ones, and is easier to mass produce, with the likelihood of having cheaper price tags.

Cost effective quarry stones

It is better to consider nearness of the quarry to the construction site when about to place order for quarry stones.

Identifying various quarry sites is a step in the right direction, and then put to consideration the cost of transportation, and time it will take to the construction site. These are factors that must be considered.

Cost per unit of quarry stone, either the manual quarry stone or machine cut, the price plus the transportation cost will determine the final head cost.

To buy quarry stones, is not too much to carefully analyze all factors attached: price of the quarry stone, quality of the stones from a particular quarry, cost of transportation to the construction site, and time taken to get quarry stone delivered to the site, these are the factors that will determine if buying the quarry stones is cost effective.

What is the Use of Quarry Dust in a Construction Project?

by priyaon 6 June 2016in Construction Materials

The reduction in the sources of sand and the need to reduce the cost of construction projects has resulted in the increase need to identify alternative construction materials to sand as fine aggregates in the construction projects. Quarry dust a by- product from crushing process during quarrying activities is good alternative during construction projects. It is used as substitute to sand to make quarry dust concrete which is believed to be stronger and more durable than the regular concrete materials.

Uses of Quarry Dust

It can be used as substitute to sand wholly or partly. It offers a comparatively good strength compared to sand with or without concrete admixtures.

Construction Industry

This type of dust is getting popular in construction projects such as road construction, building houses and making bricks and tiles.

Quarry dust is ideal for these jobs and is expected to be the future and likely replacement for sand in construction project, since river sand is fast becoming scarce and very expensive.

Strength When Needed

Sand is obtained from river beds, and is its availability is becoming challenging at reasonable price. In order not to compromise strength of building during construction, quarry dust come handy as an equal substitute without threat to quality at the same time rendering good strength to whatever construction project quarry dust is used for.

Highway Construction

This dust is widely used in the construction of roads projects, especially in the manufacture of slabs, and making retaining walls. It is also used filling roads before asphalting. It is believed that quarry dust makes stronger slabs and walls at construction site.

Cheap Material for Home Builders

Quarry dust uses is not limited to highway projects, in construction projects that involves homes building, it is fast becoming popular too.

Partial replacement of sand with quarry dust will make good concrete that is well desired in residential construction. The final product is strong bricks, slabs or tiles that are produced at lower cost compare to using sand.

Saves Cost

Demand for sand from river beds is on the increase, so is getting too expensive daily, a construction project that utilizes quarrydust come at cheaper cost and lesser pressure on market demand for sand.

The shift in demand for sand in construction project is ongoing, and is not a surprise that this dust is the safe haven, with better innovation and inventions, it won’t be something unimaginable to see quarry dust replacing sand in the construction projects.
